Mill Hill NW7ers 1 v 5 Borehamwood

Match Report

All in all a disappointing game.

The game started in Mill Hills standard way with us letting in an early goal but unfortunately this is the normal script ended. The classic fightback that everyone was expecting never happened. In the initial stage of the game were in control and for the first 15 minutes we were chasing the game. After this we slowly started to fight back and ended up dominating the game for large parts of the first half.

An excellent header by Steve Moss levelled the scores but unfortunately this was one of the very few goal attempts by Mill Hill that were actually on target. Just before half time Borehamwood scored again leaving Mill Hill 2 - 1 down at half time. Everyone thought that we could still take them in the second half. Even after the third goal went in we were still playing good football. Ben Novick making his debut for Mill Hill showed his pace and proved to everyone that it is not just Wayne who is quick over 20 yards!

The team was boosted by our half time arrivals with Josh coming in to play upfront showing good link play with Jarrod. Effort was made by everyone with Danny playing left midfield and left back, who showed some quality skill with one particularly excellent tackle to stop a certain goal. There was some hihg quality attacking play but the number of shots on target was disappointing.

This hard work did not pay off and before long Borehamwood scored again.

Twenty minutes to go and Simon the gaffer Zeital decided to roll the dice and put Mill Hills one uninjured centre half upfront. Unfortunately this gamble did not pay off and Borehamwood rapidly scored another two goals.

As a team we played some really good football but too often let ourselves down in the key positions. Borehamwood were a decent team, probably the best we have played, but even at this level, if we dont mark tightly at the back it is going to be struggle.

In short Borehamwood were the better team on the day but we certainly did not deserve to lose by four goals.
