Chevra Kadisha
The Mill Hill Men’s Voluntary Chevra Kadisha was reformed in 2005 to work in conjunction with the United Synagogue Burial Society to look after the needs of the deceased male members of our community and the wider United Synagogue Community - to carry out the sacred act of Taharah (ritual cleansing and preparation) prior to burial.
The members of the Chevra Kadisha, which currently has in excess of 14 male volunteers who give up their time freely, at short notice, to provide the community with this holy and sacred act, without acknowledgement and thanks.
The deceased female members of our community are equally cared for by the centralised voluntary Women’s Chevra Kadisha, of whom many ladies of our community are members.
Both the men’s and women’s Chevra are constantly looking for additional volunteers.
